Nature Studies at Muckross School House

Junior Infants and Senior Infants made the exciting bus trip to Muckross School House on Wednesday, 5th June, for their school tour. The students learned lots of facts about predators and prey from Siobhán and Tara at the Muckross (formerly Knockreer) Education Centre. They got an opportunity to examine stuffed animals and birds in the Old School House at Muckross. Our infants were busy scientists as they collected lots of insects from the National Park using nets and they gathered insects using pooters. Our budding scientists put their insects into Petri dishes and used the microscopes to examine these back at the Old School House. They were then treated to a fun scavenger hunt where they had to find different coloured items around Muckross. The infants finished off the day examining trees with stethoscopes, blindfolds & mirrors! What a great day!! Well done to all our budding scientists. A special thanks to Siobhán & Tara for a fun filled day!
