National Tree Week was celebrated in Kilcummin N.S. from 9th to the 16th March. At Kilcummin NS, we registered our planting interests with Kerry County Council and we will be collecting saplings for more planting on our beautiful school grounds during the first week of April. National Tree Week provided an opportunity to check out our own autumn planting efforts in Junior Infants, when we collected acorns, sycamore wings and chestnuts for planting. We are delighted to see how tall our hawthorn sapling has grown since we planted it in October 2024. Two pots of acorns have sprouted upwards. We are continuing to care for our sycamore wings and chestnuts in case they might start to grow. We looked at our autumn, winter and spring tree art to examine the changes throughout the seasons. We look forward to painting our summer tree sometime after Easter. Well done to all staff and students for celebrating National Tree Week.
