Grow It Yourself & Incredible Edibles with our Students’ Council

Thanks to our Students’ Council for promoting the Grow It Yourself and Incredible Edibles programmes. Students throughout the school planted potatoes, garlic and onions in our outdoor raised bed. Indoors, we planted turnips, carrots, water cress, pole beans, radishes, sunflowers, lettuce and many more seeds that were kindly provided by GIY and Incredible Edibles. Participation in these initiatives lends to the development of a deeper understanding and connection with food from experience of growing. This follows on from the Food Dudes healthy eating initiative that we commenced in Term 1 this year. We look forward to caring for the vegetables and will transplant these outdoors. We are hoping to develop new raised beds in our school garden. We look forward to working with biodiversity expert, Ian McGrigor, on this new development.
