On Monday, 10th June, Junior Infants and Senior Infants enjoyed a very pleasant River Walk to mark the start of our Active Week. We passed a lime kiln and were learning how limestone was converted to quicklime by burning it. We discussed how the lime was used for mortar, plaster and lime-wash in building, but also for spreading on fields to reduce the acidity of soil. We examined the trees and flowers also. The beautiful ferns and
Foxgloves seemed to be our favourite. We also visited the ruins of an old house. It was a busy walk! We held some twig and leaf races in the bridge over the Deenagh River. We were lucky not to find any trolls under the bridge!!
